Annual Garden Walk

On June 29th and 30th, The Flamborough Horticultural Society held their 3rd annual Garden Walk in the village of Waterdown, during the Spectators Open Garden Week. The two events, in conjunction with one another, allowed access to over 75 beautiful landscapes. Beginning in the gorgeous backyard of Ron Heigelsberger and Kari Bennett, past president of the Horticultural society, guests obtained a map for the walk and planned their self-guided journey, with some interesting pointers from Kari. For example, there was a one-hundred-year-old ginkgo biloba tree to be viewed in a Mill Street backyard. Another home used a steeple from the village’s original mortuary, circa 1800, as part of the garden decor. Thank you to all that opened their breathtaking yards and dispensed gardening knowledge for the public’s pleasure.
