Burlington’s downtown and waterfront came alive with the 40th annual Sound of Music Festival that took place in June. Canada’s largest music festival included the Downtown Streetfest, Children’s Village, the Midway, Vendors, the Grande Festival Parade and the popular Club Series featuring 30 bands playing in bars across the city, proudly supporting emerging local artists. Brant Street restaurants did their part by constructing patio areas so patrons could dine and not miss any of the action. Music filled the air, artists painted, youngsters hoola hooped and car buffs enjoyed a collection of vintage rides. The Sound of Music Festival has come a long way since its modest beginnings in 1980, and it continues to grow year after year, creating lasting memories for the thousands who attend.
