Hundreds of brave souls ran into icy Lake Ontario at Bronte Beach Park on New Year’s Day to raise funds for clean water in developing countries through World Vision. A 35-year tradition, the annual Courage Polar Bear Dip was held at Bronte park this time, a much safer location with its sandy shoreline.
All organized by brothers Trent and Todd Courage, there was live music on stage by singer/guitarist Mike Waling and a festive atmosphere throughout the park. The crazy costume contest, overseen by Trent, is always fun and this year was no exception. There was a Raptor, Elvis, some Vikings, and Irishmen, and much more.
“It was a great day at Bronte Beach Park today” said Todd Courage, “We raised over $120,000 and almost $2 million to date — a fantastic year yet again“. Something to really be proud of for all participants!
