Grimsby Historical Society Monthly Lecture Series
Guest Speaker: Trevor Cole, award-winning author of “The Whiskey King”
Date & Time: Wednesday October 20, 2019 @ 7:30pm-9:00pm
Location: Grimsby Town Hall Chambers, 160 Livingston Ave, Grimsby
Join us on Wednesday, October 20, 2019, for the Grimsby Historical Society Lecture Series as we welcome author, Trevor Cole.
Trevor Cole is the award-winning author of four novels including Norman Bray in the Performance of His Life and The Fearsome Particles, both short-listed for the Governor General’s Literary Award, and Practical Jean, winner of the Stephen Leacock Medal of Honour.
Trevor’s latest book, published by HarperCollins Canada, is The Whiskey King, an epic non-fiction historical narrative nominated for the Speakers Book Award and the Heritage Toronto Award and winner of the 2018 Arthur Ellis Award for Canada’s best nonfiction crime book.
Trevor will take us back to the days of Prohibition to present the life and times of Rocco Perri, Canada’s most infamous bootlegger, and his wife and partner in crime, Bessie Starkman. And he gives a glimpse into the life of Frank Zaneth, Canada’s first undercover mountie and the man who tried for years to bring Rocco down.
As always, the meeting is open to the community so bring a friend or neighbour!
