GBF Response to COVID-19

Like you, we here at GBF are navigating a new reality. The growing concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic is an important public health matter and one that GBF Community Services is taking seriously.

We are aware that the situation is changing daily and are doing our part to take preventative steps. We are committed to doing all we can to protect our community while continuing service to the many individuals and families that rely on us for their basic necessities of life. Our priority is staying healthy and ensuring there is no disruption in service for the people in need in Grimsby.

Why does GBF Community Services need your support at this time?

  • Vulnerable families can’t afford to stock up food for days. With your help, we will ensure they have enough.
  • Grocery stores are having a hard time keeping their own shelves stocked, so donations of non-perishable and fresh food are not coming through our doors. We need to rely heavily on purchasing at this time.
  • With schools closed, your gift will help families provide meals usually received at school or in after school clubs
  • Our retail operation is temporarily closed. This is a loss in revenue that supports our services delivered through the food bank.

Providing food and services to those in need can be very difficult at the best of times. With COVID-19, that task just got harder. The GBF team of staff continues to be leaders in our community in providing essential services to those that live with food insecurity in Grimsby. Since this pandemic began, we have distributed $33,402.98 in funding for Emergency Housing supports, utility supports, and medical supports. We need your continued commitment for those who need us most.

Anyone requiring assistance or have questions at this time, please contact us at 905-309-5664 ext. 22 to further discuss.
