Holiday Traditions at Royal Botanical Gardens

During the Christmas season, Royal Botanical Gardens is all about trains.

The Botanical Train is located inside the RBG Centre, a model train built using 7 tons of cedar strips, 3000 pounds of rock and a track which is 250 feet long. Miniature Canadian landmarks are featured throughout and surrounded by poinsettias, mini pine trees and Christmas cactus.

The life-size RBG Express is outdoors, and takes guests for a 10-minute drive in Hendrie Park, to and from Santa’s workshop. Passengers and drivers bundle up on those chilly days to enjoy the tour.

The Escarpment Train Exhibit at the Rock Garden illustrates three various eras of railroad history; 1800’s steam engines, streamliners of the 1930s and modern diesels of the present. You may spot a miniature ‘Easterbrooks Hot Dog Stand’ in this display.

You may find dates and hours of operation at www.rbg.ca
