HOPE in South Mississauga

Amid these uncertain times, there are many heart-warming gestures and moments that continue to shine in South Mississauga.

The community has come together selflessly to support The Compass and their most vulnerable clients throughout these difficult days. All of us at The Compass are thankful for continued donations, from caring individuals, groups, families and very generous local businesses.

The past weeks have highlighted the need for our services. The Compass has seen a significant increase in foodbank use and knows it is important to be prepared to be able to assist even more people during this pandemic. Food insecurity is on the rise and we cannot predict how many new people will have to access our food bank in the coming weeks & months. The staff and volunteers are working tirelessly to make adjustments to best support our clients in need.

To keep everyone safe during COVID-19 we’ve had to make some changes.

Wonderful Volunteers

Instead of coming in once a week to select their own items, clients make food requests ahead of time so their customized hamper is ready for a quick pick up. We are very fortunate to have fresh vegetables, fruit, bread, as well as frozen proteins like chicken, halal chicken, fish and ground pork; even eggs and milk. Our staff and volunteers are committed to continuing to serve the community as best they can.

The Compass is grateful to the 100+ volunteers helping us to remain open, and to all donors who are making a significant impact.  If you can, and are interested in helping us at this time, we encourage you to make a financial donation directly via www.TheCompass.ca
