Bundled up for warmth, families headed out to their favourite outdoor Ice Loop in Waterdown Rotary Memorial Park. Top 40 pop songs bellowed overhead, providing rhythm as skaters rounded the loop.
One skater, Alf, had driven up from Aldershot to meet and skate with his sweet granddaughter Roslyn. “I really wish Aldershot would do something like this,” he commented, “ an outdoor rink just like this one would be perfect in Lasalle Park.“
However, some skaters do prefer the indoor arenas. There was a crowd doing circles at Aldershot Arena on Townsend Rd. For young couples in love, the arena provided a perfect setting.
