Port Credit, Ontario. August, 2019– The Southside Shuffle Blues & Jazz Festival is pleased to announce it has received grants for 2019 from the City of Mississauga, Celebrate Ontario, Ontario Creates (formerly the Ontario Music Fund), Port Credit Community Foundation, Ontario Cultural Attractions Fund, Heritage Canada, The Hazel McCall ion Foundation and Socan. We would like to thank all of them for their support. These funds will help to provide a broader range of programming to help us celebrate our 21st anniversary.
The Southside Shuffle is a not-for-profit music Festival with a volunteer working Board of Directors and 400 volunteers that together contribute over 8,000 hours toward running the Festival. Like all music Festivals the Shuffle relies on grants and sponsorships to offset an average budget of $500,000 with most costs going to artists, production and logistics.
The Southside Shuffle running from September 6th to the 8th 2019 has developed into a premiere music event & is the only Blues & Jazz Festival in the Mississauga area. The Festival has positively impacted tourism in the area as well as providing employment opportunities and promoting audience development & outreach to both the local and artistic community. The event offers various performance stages & venues including two free music stages and two ticketed stages in Memorial Park. Other venues such as the free Rabba Fine Foods Street Shuffle Saturday afternoon from noon to 4pm, the Beggars Blues Banquet and late night jams offer a wide variety of performing artists in the Blues & Jazz disciplines & of various talent levels.
The Southside Shuffle endeavours to be accessible to all the people it serves. We believe that everyone should have equal access to our programs & volunteer opportunities & our diverse community should be reflected in all that we do. This event is wheelchair accessible. www.southsideshuffle.ca
