It was a crisp Nov 16th, a couple of weeks earlier than usual, that Aldershot gathered for their annual tree lighting at Downsview Plaza. In spite of the chilly weather, little people loved the horse-drawn carriage rides and visiting Mr. and Mrs. Claus. The Children’s Choir entertained the crowd just before the talented James Ferris Band took the stage. Many visitors warmed their innards with clam chowder offered at the Vendors Market. There was a line-up to purchase cookies, pies, apple strudel, and more from the new Flour Child bakery, soon to open for business in this plaza, and one of this event’s primary sponsors.
Halton Police parked a vehicle for the ‘Cram-a-Cruiser’ non-perishable food drive in support of the Compassion Society.
As always, the giant Christmas tree bedazzled the guests as it’s lights popped on at dusk.
Aldershot BIA is grateful to their sponsors: Kelvin Galbraith, Ward 1 Councillor, Flour Child Bakery, and RBC Mobile Mortgage Specialist Maria Cavdamova, National Homes.
They would also like to thank the numerous tree sponsors: Home Hardware, Aldershot Dental Care, Dr. Patrick Pedlar, Dental Life & LaSalle Park Retirement, The Olive Oil Dispensary, Esso Gateway, Lions Club, and Pluckers.
