Blue dashers, often in pairs, are found around water and can consume hundreds of mosquitos a day, aided by their sharp eyesight. They will typically come to rest on predictable favoured locations, making photography a bit easier.
These macro photos were taken by a Nikkor 105 mm lens with a Sigma 2X teleconverter, mounted on a Nikon D850 camera body. Macro photography focusing typically has to be done manually.
