Waterdown’s final Farmers Market of the season took place Thanksgiving weekend at the legion. Locals ventured out to grab harvest veggies, perogies, pies, and other decadent treats to include in their holiday feast.
Wayne of Bartley’s Flowers, was selling bouquets of fresh blossoms, grown in town, with a recipe to make them last longer.
Wayne said “mix a quart of tap water with a teaspoon of sugar, a teaspoon of bleach and 2 teaspoons lemon juice. It makes all the difference“. The Bartley family’s flower business has thrived in town since the 1960s.
Pie in the Sky, Udderway Cheese Company, Stuffed and Vandenbroek Farms were among the dozens of vendors at this crisp outdoor marketplace. Roze, of Olearia, provided live guitar and vocals. Waterdown will look forward to this weekly gathering when it returns for a new season next May.
